Parkwood is seeking a Youth Recreational and Leisure Activities Program Co-ordinator. Youth and students between the ages of 17 to 30 years old are encouraged to apply. Employment would be 35 hours/week for 8 weeks between Jun 23 & Aug 30. The office will be accepting applications until Monday, June 2 at noon. More details here.

  A celebration service marking the 150th anniversary of the forming of the Presbyterian Church in Canada was held Sunday afternoon, May 4 @ 3:00 PM at St. Paul's church, 971 Woodroffe Ave., Ottawa. All are welcome to attend. The service will be livestreamed. Here are the links:

  Recent deaths...

We express condolences to the Featherstone family on the death on April 30 of Larry Gordon Lane, husband of Dennis & Brenda's eldest daughter Shelley. A memorial service will take place on Friday May 23 @ 3pm at Parkwood, with reception to follow. Read Larry's obituary here.

  We are sad to announce as well the passing of Harry VanDyk, long-time member and former elder of Parkwood, in Ottawa on April 23rd. A memorial service was held at Parkwood on Monday May 5 @ 1:00 PM with a reception following. It was not livestreamed. Please keep Harry's wife Phyllis, daughter Angela and all the family in your prayers. Read Harry's obituary here.

  We are also sad to announce the passing of Art Pattison in Ottawa on March 28. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's church, (971 Woodroffe Ave.) on Thursday, May 22 at 3:00 PM. Please keep Art's children Peter (Jennifer), Christina (Trent), Rebecca (Adam) of Ottawa and Paul (Diana) and their families in your prayers. Read Art's obituary here.

  Church School Classes 2024 - 2025
Babies & children are welcome in our worship service. After the children's story, all the children are welcome to attend age appropriate classes. Classes are available for children ages 3 and up including high school students.

            Youth in grades 8 to 12 meet downstairs in the Youth Room (Victoria Henry)
            Children in grades 3 through 7 meet downstairs in the Fellowship Hall (Pamela Pestaluky)
            Preschool to grade 2 children meet in the Sunshine Room on the main level (Lorrie McEwen)
           For younger children (up to age 3), a nursery room is available (main floor, down hall past the office); audio of the service is available in the nursery. Children are welcome to remain in the service or leave with a parent or caregiver at any time.

Mission Team Special Appeal 2025 #2:   The Mission Team's second special appeal for 2025, commencing May 4, is for Harmony House.   More info can be found on page 5 of the May 2025 Pulse newsletter. More information is available on their website, here.

  Parkwood Youth... The regular April event will take place on Friday, May 9 beginning @ 7 PM. Also, a joint event with youth from Knox Manotick is in the works for Sunday May 25, likely in the afternoon, at a trampoline park.

  Lunch and Learn...  Monday, May 12  (lunch @ noon, talk @ 1pm): this month our guest speaker Emma Streatch, an occupational therapist who specializes in treating people with osteoarthritis.  Hope you can join us!


Pastoral Care Communion...  The next Pastoral Care Communion will take place on Tuesday, May 13 @ 2:00pm in the sanctuary, followed by refreshments in the Fellowship Hall.

Barrhaven Bible Study: Wednesday evenings, 7:30 - 8:30pm via Zoom; spring term will run to June 18, 2025. We will continue our study of the Gospel of John picking up at Chapter 17. All are welcome to join in on this study. For more information contact John Fair at 613-823-9970 or .

Next month & beyond @ Parkwood

Communion... As part of the worship service on Sunday, June 1, we will celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, both online and in-person. Those worshipping online who profess faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord and who are professing members in any congregation or branch of the Christian Church are invited to participate. In preparation, please have a small piece of bread and a small glass of grape juice or similar “fruit of the vine” available. Also, please let us know if you participated in communion by sending an email to either Pastor James (.) or the church office ().

recordings of services are made each week and are available at reasonable cost. Since we began livestreaming, you can watch past services on our YouTube channel. If you or someone that you know is having difficulty or simply does not have the equipment, please let us know and we will try to help in whatever way that we can -- call the church office (613-225-6648 ext. 114) or contact one of the members of the Pastoral Care Team (see list) or an elder (see list).





RightNow Media (RNM) is a video resource library material for Bible study for adults, youth and childen. It has been described as "the Netflix of video Bible Studies". We have a subscription, so access is free for anyone at Parkwood. More info including how to sign up on page 1 of the Dec. 19/20 e-letter. Check it out! Click on the RNM logo to go to their homepage. Register for your own account (under Parkwood's license) here.  RNM can also be accessed on your smartphone or tablet via a downloadable app. The RightNow app can be found here,





Parkwood's YouTube channel is where our weekly livestreamed worship services are broadcast from, and where past services are stored for viewing after they have been livestreamed; the channel also occasionally features videos of other events in the life of the congregation. We invite you to visit "Parkwood Ottawa" on YouTube - click on the YouTube logo to go there; please consider subscribing to our channel. To do that you'll need a separate YouTube account, but there's a benefit: whenever a livestreamed service is about to take place, you'll receive notification by email with a link to the service. Also, videos are archived from time to time and removed from the channel. There's a complete list of archived services, both audio and video, here, If there's a service in that list you'd like to see again, please contact the webservant.
