Personnel Team... At its meeting 25 May 2010, the session of Parkwood Church approved the forming of a Personnel Team to
provide a consultative and supportive group for teams with staff earning remuneration and for other volunteers. The team will consist of four members
of the congregation who are not church staff, plus the minister. Session will appoint the members of the team, with at least two members being elders.
Membership on the team is for an indefinite term. If you are a member of Parkwood with skills in the area of personnel, please prayerfully consider
joining this team. For more information or to volunteer please contact Duane Townsend (BDTownsend@ncf.ca,
613-224-0886) or Gord Walford (gord.walford@sympatico.ca, 613-225-1836). The team's Terms of Reference are
posted on the church website at www.parkwoodchurch.ca/personnel/

Mid-Week Summer Fellowship: "Angels & Demons", an audio series by R.C. Sproul. Rev. John Fair will be leading the
discussion for the month of July. Children's activities will be supervised during the adult discussion group. Start time will vary depending on whether
there is a BBQ scheduled that week -- please check the weekly bulletin (link at bottom of this page) for start time.
Please check the weekly bulletin (link at bottom of page) and monthly calendar (link in menubar at top of page) for upcoming events.
Miscellaneous
Welcome to our pulpit... Rev. Hurd and family will be on vacation for most of June and July. While he is away we welcome to
our pulpit Rev. Cedric Pettigrew (June 6), Rev. Bob Martin (retired minister from Vankleek Hill, June 13), Rev. Dave Kettle (Chaplain General of the
Canadian Forces, June 20) and Rev. John Fair (June 27 through July 25). Rev. Hurd will return to the pulpit Sunday Aug. 1.
Announcement from Darlene McLeod, presbytery youth worker... It is my pleasure to bring news of an upcoming series of events
hosted by the Youth and Young Adult Ministry of Ottawa: The Laziest Bookclub Ever. On the first and third Wednesday of every month, beginning June 2, we
will meet at 7pm at the Bridgehead at Elgin and Maclaren for fair-trade coffee as we read together and discuss a short passage of scripture, news,
philosophy or poetry. Come and see where the conversation leads us! Unlike other bookclubs, there is no need to do any reading before hand, just come
and enjoy a time of fellowship and though-provoking conversation. For more information, contact Darlene McLeod at darlene.mcleod@rogers.com
or check out the YAYA blog at http://pccyaya.tumblr.com.
E-mail contact list... After a meeting of Parkwood folk regarding use of technology in the church it was decided to restrict
access to the e-mail contact list by use of password protection. Persons requiring a password may contact the webservant. Among other things it is hoped
this practice will minimize "spam" coming to those whose e-mail addresses are published. We are also working on a means of being able to contact church
staff without revealing e-mail addresses on the Parkwood website.
People associated with Parkwood who have passed away within the past year include
Stephen Foster (25-Jun-10),
Barbara Cairns (04-Feb-10),
George Brown (05-Jan-10),
Tom Kennedy (27-Oct-09),
Wallace Robinson (26-Oct-09) and
George Dance (22-Sep-09).
The Annual Report for 2009 is available
on our site in pdf format (1.2 MB). The online version includes corrections made to
the print version during the Annual Meeting, Feb. 20, 2010, which are listed on the page that follows the cover page. The team member list on the last
page has also been revised (25/02/2010).
recordings of services are made each week and are available at reasonable cost. Normally
the scripture passage(s), special music and sermon are recorded. If you missed a particular week and you'd like to "catch up" please talk
to Carl Martin or contact your elder or the church office (office@parkwoodchurch.ca). Currently
we are offering recordings in digital format, but arrangements can be made to provide them on a CD.
